Part Time Facilitation in SDE Communities
I’m available for part time or visiting facilitation and training support in SDE community spaces. The trainings I offer are specifically tailored to the community’s needs. I’ve been sharing the following topics in training environments recently: Compassionate Communication, Introduction to SDE and tools used in the world of SDE/Agile Learning, Parent Support, DeSchooling, and developing project-based offerings in SDE spaces.

Flying Squad in New Orleans
I organize a weekly meetup of a Flying Squad. Flying Squads is a youth liberation and anti-oppression collective. We believe in the abolition of divided spaces between young people and the rest of their community. Flying Squads consist of groups of youth who step into public space as a form of youth activism. (Language adapted from Flying Squad website).
What do Flying Squad meetups entail? It’s hard to anticipate because the kids’ choices determine how each session unfolds! Me and other adults who offer support to the squad often help with skills such as decision-making and compromising for the whole group. We’re also present to advocate for the kids’ rights in the face of different forms of ageist bias they may encounter. For every such meetup there is never a planned destination, rather, child-led exploration of collective interests through conversation, voting, and other unique processes of collaboration.

“The Shift” with Radical Learning
I co-facilitate a 7 day training for adults on moving from uncertainty and control to trust and freedom in themselves and their kids.
The Shift is a bi-lingual (English/Spanish) program for parents, teachers, and adults supporting youth and life-long learners, focused on shifting from a paradigm of oppression, control, and fear to one of trust, equity, and freedom…discovering the true value of learning, community-building and equitable relationships. (Language from the Radical Learning website).
